Why Is Our Keyboard "QWERTY"? Isn't That "ABCDE"?- How come? Have you ever thought, why the order of the letters in our keyboard. So scrambled?
Not only on our computer keyboard, on our cellphones, to our typewriter too.
The arrangement of letters on this keyboard is known as "QWERTY", taken from the first 6 letters. But why is our keyboard "QWERTY"? Why not others?
In ancient times, the keyboard on a typewriter, mostly using the arrangement of letters, according to our alphabetical order. But one problem occurs that many of the English words use letters that are too close together so that the lever on the typewriter often gets stuck, when used.
Therefore, in 1874, Christopher Sholes, solved this problem, by making a typewriter with a "QWERTY" typeface.
He designed the “QWERTY” keyboard to separate pairs of letters that were often used, so that they were far apart, so that the typewriter became more efficient when used.
Even so, there is another finding which explains that the "QWERTY" keyboard arrangement was made to facilitate communication from the telegraph, which was in the form of Morse code.
The arrangement of the ordinary alphabet was considered difficult to use to translate the mors code, so that the “QWERTY” keyboard arrangement was developed which continues to be used today.
Yes, strangely enough we still use the "QWERTY" keyboard, even though we rarely use typewriters anymore. So, from now on, pay close attention to your keyboard, because behind this sequence, it turns out that there is a long history in it.
Thank you ....
